• Originating in the USA, we have been running Schwartz Rounds at Surrey for our students since 2019
  • They are now open to a wide range of students studying applied health programmes, including student nurses, midwives, paramedics, clinical psychologists, dieticians, doctors and veterinarians
  • A safe, confidential space, where trained facilitators assist you to share and reflect on the emotional, social and ethical impact of your work
  • Focus on the impact of work on attendees: not clinical detail or problem solving
  • Last 1 hour, beginning with pre-prepared stories shared by staff or students on a chosen theme. The space is then opened out to the audience to share their stories, thoughts and reflections
  • No expectation to speak: silent reflection is welcome
  • Rounds run monthly during term-time, mostly online over Zoom, with one in-person Round per term
