This website has two key aims:

  • to support staff to care well
  • to keep patients safe.

The resources presented here draw on research carried out by the Workforce Organisation and Wellbeing team at the School of Health Sciences at the University of Surrey.

Principal Investigators

Professor Jill Maben OBE

Jill is a nurse and social scientist. Her research focuses on supporting healthcare staff to care well. Jill leads the Workforce Organisation and Wellbeing group (WOW) in the School of Health Sciences, University of Surrey, alongside Professor Cath Taylor, with whom she co-led the Care Under Pressure 2 and Schwartz South studies. She also led the ICON and Unprofessional Behaviours studies.

Professor Cath Taylor

Cath is an organisational psychologist whose research focuses on the relationship between work and wellbeing, with a particular interest in how the structures and organisation of work can influence wellbeing. Cath leads the Workforce Organisation and Wellbeing group (WOW) in the School of Health Sciences, University of Surrey, alongside Professor Jill Maben, with whom she co-led the Care Under Pressure 2 and Schwartz South studies.
